Stanley P
Corbridge
Dec 9, 1942 — Jun 22, 2026
Stanley P Corbridge, 83 passed from this life and into the next early on the morning of June 22, 2026 in St George, Utah. He was surrounded by the love of his life, Sue and all his beloved children.
Stan was born in Hayward, California to Paul and Maurine Corbridge on December 9,1942. He was the oldest of three boys as he was born about 5 minutes before his twin brother Steve and 10 years before their brother Michael. Stan grew up in California where he participated in and excelled at sports. He played football and was a member of the track team. He loved to inform people that he still holds the pole-vaulting record. That record jump was immortalized when the school was torn down. These pursuits set him up for a lifelong love of sports as a participant and spectator.
He was an avid golfer, and his golf buddies were like family to him.
Early in his life he gained a testimony of and love for Jesus Christ and His gospel. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in France. He returned home and married his high school sweetheart Susan Lee Selling on July 25, 1964. They were sealed a short time later for time and all eternity in the Oakland California Temple.
Stan attended Brigham Young University, an institution that in his heart will forever reign supreme. He was a superfan of any and all BYU sports. He graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Education in 1968. He then taught middle school math, shop and Seminary in California. He decided that was not the career path for him, so in 1972, he and Sue packed all their belongings and moved their small family from California to Utah for a new adventure. They opened an independent distributorship for Interstate Batteries. They worked hard to grow and successfully build their business, and they provided jobs and opportunities for many people over the next 40 years. Stan worked tirelessly for his family but also because he loved his work. Work meant people and he loved people. He was respected and loved by many and developed lasting friendships with people in the Interstate Battery System throughout the country.
Stan was a devoted father who lived to care for his family. He was attentive to his children when he was home with them. He supported them in many pursuits including attending countless sporting events and recitals. He loved to take his family water and snow skiing. He loved to travel with them and took them on many adventures. Stan was the best Grandpa to his 17 grandchildren. He was present in all of their lives and celebrated with them at every opportunity. They all knew he loved them. He cherished his "Sweetie" Sue and made every effort to express his love and adoration for her. Her happiness was his ultimate goal. He was a protector, provider, and spiritual guide. His superpower was showing up whenever anyone needed him. His ability to instantly connect with others through his wit and humor was endearing.
Stan was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities within the Church during his life. After retirement, he and Sue had the opportunity together to serve another mission where their focus was Family History and Genealogy. His deep love for his Savior inspired and directed his life. In his final moments we found peace in knowing that he was ready to meet Him.
Stan lived an honorable and beautiful life aligned with his beliefs and we are forever blessed to have been loved by him. He made a lasting impact on anyone who knew him. He was a presence. The essence of his life was love.
Stan is loved and survived by his sweetheart Sue, his children Leslie (Scott), Lisa (Stu), Lori (Mike), Scott (Jenn), and Stacey. His twin brother Steve (Patrice), and his brother Mike (Debra). His 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
