Stevenson Andrus McDonald, age 88, passed away peacefully in Lindon, Utah, surrounded by family and in the arms of his loving wife.
He was born on January 9, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Stevenson McDonald and Elizabeth Eldridge Andrus. He was raised in the foothills of Holladay, Utah, and graduated from Olympus High School in 1956.
Steve married Ann Louise Hammond in the Salt Lake Temple on August 6, 1958. Together they shared 67 years of marriage and raised six children. In 1966, Steve and Ann moved to St. George, Utah, where they raised their family among the red rocks of Dixie.
Steve was a self-taught draftsman, widely respected for his skill and creativity, and was sought after for his innovative designs. He designed numerous homes, including several for his own children, and helped construct many of the homes and businesses around Southern Utah.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived a life marked by hard work, service to others, and devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings; and his eldest son, Steven Kay McDonald.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann McDonald; and five children: Deborah Christensen (Mike), David Kirk McDonald (Sherri), Michelle Furse (Jeff), Shauna Ann Johnson (Sean), and Mathew Scott McDonald (Becky); along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on January 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary, 288 West St. George Boulevard, St. George, Utah 84770, with visitation at the mortuary from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery.
