Our beloved daughter, Susan Vaughn, went to her eternal rest on September 3, 2024, in Santa Barbara, California.
Susan is survived by her mother, Rose Marie Duesterwald; her devoted sister Patricia Kempton, Patricia's husband Greg Kempton with their two sons Jack and Pierce, together with Susan's aunt, Patricia Feeley and her two cousins Erin and Kristin Feeley.
Susan left a beautiful legacy through twenty-five years of successful journalism contributing to over thirty magazines in the U.S. and U.K. Susan also taught and lectured at extension workshops and classes at UCLA, co-authored a book, and was granted the Diane Thomas Screenwriting Award by Steven Spielberg.
Susan was acting bureau chief for Picture Week and maintained a weekly column in the Los Angeles Times financial section for ten years.
Her love of flowers led to volunteering for ten years as a docent at Lotusland and other landscape and floral groups in Santa Barbara.
Susan began her love of music when she formed a little music group at age ten. This eventually brought membership in the Santa Barbara Harp association. Susan's career included law and medical internships.
It can easily be said that of all her efforts, her primary talent was hard work, striving for perfection and entertaining the public. Susan, you are loved.
