IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia Lue
Jones Willis
February 10, 1923 – August 22, 2013
St. George, Utah - The Sheep hear the Shepherds voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. The Shepherd called Sylvia Lue Jones Willis to her final home on August 22, 2013 with causes associated with age.
Sylvia was born February 10, 1923 to William M. Jones and Suda Phillips Jones in Cement, Oklahoma. Her family moved to California after the death of her father in1941 and she remained in California until 1958 when her young family moved to Utah; residing in Ogden and then Clearfield. She and V.J. moved to St. George in 2004.
She married V.J. Willis, June 26, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA and was the mother of two children, Vernon J. Willis (wife, Patsy Dobbs) of St. George and Sheryl Rudnick-Shafer of St. George.
Sylvia was a document-data clerk of Boeing Company of Utah and retired in 1978. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of St. George and previous member of Washington Heights Baptist Church of Ogden, Utah.
Sylvia lived a simple life, but left a meaningful impression on everyone she knew. She loved all the attention each friend showed her as she became less active over the past three months. She loved and trusted the Lord above all else and enjoyed reading the bible as well as Christian romance books and histories. She delighted hearing of the successes of her children, grandchildren and their spouses; she is very proud of them all.
She is survived by her children; brother, Cletus Jones and wife Rose of Fullerton, CA; sister, Imogene Hunt and husband, Doug of Thousand Palms, CA; grandchildren: Julie Willis Conway (Dale) of Portland, TX, Jill Willis Stuart (Joe) of West Point, UT, Greg Willis of Layton, UT; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, V.J.; son-in-law, Louis Rudnick; and grandson, Brian Shafer.
