Obituary

Enterprise, Utah – Theron W Randall passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2024.  Theron was born on August 25, 1939, to Willard Randall and Alta Staheli in Raymond and Thelma Staheli's home across the street from the Enterprise Stake Center on the corner.

He was the first of seven children: Theron, Lavon, Weston, Roger, Delsene (deceased), Verla, and LaNett.

He grew up in Enterprise.  He graduated from Enterprise High School and was the student body president.  He then went on to college at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah for one year.  He then attended College of Southern Utah (now SUU) in Cedar City, Utah.  He completed his bachelor's degree, and later a master's degree.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission (which at that time included Minnesota, South Dakota, and a portion of Canada). Before leaving for his mission, he proposed to Gayle Jones.  Gayle waited faithfully for him.

Upon his return, they were married for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple on October 14, 1961.  They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary.  They were blessed with three children, Anthony (Tony) Theron Randall, David Stanton Randall, and Latanna (Randall) Palmer. They were blessed to watch how he loved their mother! He truly was an amazing husband!

He served in the United States Air Force for 6 years.  He served at Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma; at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan; and was an ROTC professor at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.  His love and respect for our country was evident.   He spent several years doing service in the American Legion.

He taught 6th grade at Enterprise Elementary for 17 years and then became the principal for the next 13 years.  During his time as principal, the new elementary school was built.

After retiring, he and Gayle served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They served in the Texas McAllen Mission in Edinburg, Texas.  There, they worked as Institute directors teaching Institute classes and chaperoning many activities.  So many young adults were positively affected by their influence!

They next served in the California San Francisco Mission.  Part of their work in this mission included being over 5 districts of missionaries and helping with the Chinese Ward.

Their final mission was to the California Los Angeles Mission.  They served diligently in the mission office.  Theron spent a lot of time securing apartments for missionaries, dealing with mission car issues, etc.  They loved the missionaries!  They were a great strength to the branches where they served!

Through these missions, they made wonderful friends!  They have still kept in contact with several of these people. They felt great joy and satisfaction in being a part of strengthening the members and bringing others to Jesus Christ.

Throughout his life, he served faithfully in many church callings…. scout leader, counselor in a branch presidency, Branch President, high councilor, Stake Mission President, Bishop, and family history consultant.  He and Gayle also really loved the period of time that they were called to be ordinance workers in the St. George Temple, and for a short time in the Cedar City Temple.

Throughout the years after his retirement, he and Gayle made a goal to do a session in as many temples as possible.  They made special trips to accomplish this goal.  They were able to do this in 83 temples throughout the United States and Canada.  He also spent a great deal of time working on family history.

Theron's testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the covenants he made, and his family were his highest priorities!  He always made time for special family events and traditions. His greatest goal was and is an eternal family!  He lived a life dedicated to following Jesus Christ.

Theron is survived by his wife, Gayle Jones Randall; his three children: Tony (Sherry) Randall of Enterprise; David (Dana) Randall of LaVerkin, Utah; Latanna (David) Palmer of Enoch, Utah; 20 grandchildren, 20  great grandchildren, and five siblings.
