Hurricane, UT - Verna Lavelle Scottie Swider, 71, passed away on February 27, 2010 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT surrounded by loved ones. She was born June 9, 1938 in Roosevelt, Utah to James Cook and Hazel Pauline Reedhead. She married Stanley Swider. They were married in Phoenix, AZ on May 3, 1988. She was raised in Roosevelt, Utah and had also lived in Casper, Wyoming; Dickinson, Bismark and Minot, North Dakota; as well as Phoenix, Arizona. She retired in Hurricane, Utah to be near family. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Swider; daughter, Tracy (David) Wooley of Ivins, Utah; daughter, Kim Heintz of Harvey, North Dakota; grandchildren: Jacob and Tawny Wooley of Ivins, Utah; great-granddaughter, Jaylynne Wooley; sister, Nina Hoyt of Hurricane, Utah; and brother, Mike Cook of Sheridan, Arkansas. A visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main St., Hurricane, Utah.
