Ivins, UT – Our community lost a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on Thursday, November 28, 2024, when Vernal Hayden Ruesch, age 84, passed away from non-small cell lung cancer. He was born on May 21, 1940. He married Rosalee Ann Stevens on April 21, 1961, in St. George, Utah, and was later sealed in the Manti Temple on September 29, 1973.

Vernal was so proud of his family-built cabin on Cedar Mountain and loved spending entire summers there with Mom, the love of his life. He especially enjoyed it when his children and their families would come to visit. He could build and fix anything and loved to help anyone that needed it. His laugh when telling stories was infectious. He loved his Heavenly Father and had a strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed Temple visits with his sons.

He is survived by the loving community of Ivins, the many friends he made throughout his career, and the tight-knit group of friends at Navajo Lake. He is also survived by his five children and their spouses: Ricky (Colleen) Ruesch, Sharee (Kyle) Bracken, Steven (Shay) Ruesch, Jason (Lane) Ruesch, and Brandon (Keshia) Ruesch; his brother, Roger Ruesch; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalee Ann Stevens Ruesch; his parents, Jack Ruesch and Melva Spendlove Ruesch; his brothers: Don Ruesch and Dale Vance Ruesch; and his great-granddaughter, Natalie Bertoch.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ivins 2nd Ward Chapel, 15 North Main Street. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Ivins City Cemetery located at 200 West 400 North.
