Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah - Vira Henrie Whitney, 97, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, author and columnist, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014 at her home in Santa Clara Utah with her loving husband Keith Whitney by her side. She was born the middle daughter of nine, on April 4, 1917 in Panguitch Utah to Jeddie and Hilda Henrie.

Vira lived a full and interesting life. She is well known for giving advice and hints in her column, It Makes Cents, for over two decades, appearing weekly in The Spectrum, and other local newspapers throughout Utah and Idaho. She was also regional correspondent for the Deseret News.

Throughout her life Vira was an active and devoted member of the LDS Church, and served in many capacities.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Whitney; daughter, Eileen; sons: Eldredge (Deanna), Jed (Pamela) and Daniel (Jani); and 20 grandchildren.

We will all miss her great warmth, and caring way, with everyone who was fortunate enough to know and love her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., at the Vineyard LDS Chapel, 630 Riesling Avenue, Santa Clara, Utah. Interment will be in the Santa Clara City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
