Obituary

St. George, UT - Virginia Mae Cort Hunsicker passed away on May 14, 2012 at the St. George Care and Rehab Center after a brief illness. She was born May 1, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. During WWII, she worked in a parachute factory and after moving to Los Angeles in 1956, she worked for the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department as a secretary at the Hall of Justice and Norwalk sub-station. Much of this time, Virginia was a single mother who struggled and sacrificed her own needs so her children would not go without. She served on the PTA and was a Den Mother, Brownie Leader and Room Mother. She made much with very little.

Following her husbands retirement, she moved with him to St. George, where they lived in Bloomington since 1983.

Virginia was a championship bowler, skilled seamstress and could jitterbug her saddle shoes off, having been voted "Best Dancer" in her high school class. She loved western TV shows and movies and relished watching John Wayne, in particular.

"Has this world been so kind that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind". CS Lewis

Virginia was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Christine Diane Zoedes and her husband of 26 years, Walter Hunsicker. She is survived by her children: Christopher, Suzanne (Frank), and Edward (Cheryl); her grandchildren: Steven, Christy (Trent), Ryan, Andrew (Jackilyn), and Patrick, as well as her nephews: David and Doug, and nieces: Debra, Dawn, Dana and Diana. She was loved by them all.
