St George Utah - Virginia Baer Woodward 86, passed away on July 18, 2024 in her beloved St. George, Utah, surrounded by her loved ones.
Virginia was born on September 24, 1937, to Walter and Clara Baer in Peoria, Illinois. Later moved to Morgan, Utah.
She was married to Michael Lynn Woodward on April 19, 1962 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Virginia was the Diary Princess while in HS. She graduated from High School in Morgan, Utah. She attended Utah State, BYU, Dixie College, U of U. She graduated Weber State with a BS degree and later graduated NAU with her Masters degree.
Virginia worked for Dixie College as a Career Center Director for 23 years. She also taught cooking and sewing at the college. She was the only person at Dixie Sate College to be selected as a member of the state committee that decided to make Dixie a four-year institution.
Virginia and her husband loved traveling all over the US and the world. Some of their favorite places were Europe, China, and Russia. They sailed 17 cruises with her brother Bob. She was known for her beautiful and intricate gingerbread houses. She donated them to the Jubilee of Trees for 10 years.
Virginia was preceded in death by her sons: Andrew Michael Woodward, Clint McFee and Herb Nelson.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Lynn Woodward; children: Tracy Lynn Fischer (Mike) and Robin Oso (Bert); grandchildren: Jess Woodward Sims (Colton), Alexander Michael Woodward, Alexis Lynn Fischer, DeVawn Prem (Tim), Nigel Goatson (Denisse), Taylor Robbins (Nicholas); great grandchildren: Mason Wayne Tisdale, Brenden Elstermeyer, Timmy Prem, Lexi Elstermeyer, Benjamin Prim, Charlotte Prem, Damien Goatson, Angelique Goatson, and Mallory Goatson; and brothers: Larry D. Baer and Robert C. Baer.
A celebration of life and viewing will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah.
