Obituary

St. George, UT - Vivian Adella Hall Sheil, a beloved daughter of her Heavenly Father, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. She was born December 29, 1919 to Adison S. and LiVina Bell Williams Hall in Bailey, Iowa, but most of her growing years were on the family farm near Evansville, Wisconsin. It was here that she learned the value of hard work, a trait she never forgot. Raised during the depression, she learned the value of money and a good name. She never paid interest on anything and was honest to a fault. If there was something that she needed or wanted, she either had money to pay cash or she saved until she did and then bought the best. To spend money on anything less was not acceptable. The light of Vivians life was her daughter, Patty Joy. They were best friends and enjoyed many great adventures together. When Vivian retired, she moved from Rock Island, Illinois to Salt Lake City to be near Pat and her family. Professionally, Vivian worked as a bookkeeper and with her husband, Irish (Basil) Sheil. He owned a cab company in Rock Island and she was the one who managed, took care of payroll and dispatched the cabs. Retirement life was good for Vivian. Together with her good friend, Connie Trousel and her two dogs, Cocoa and Sissy, they traveled all over the U.S. The four of them also spent winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Patty Joy Terry and her husband Michael; granddaughter, Deborah Kay Steadman; great-grandson, Brandon Gary Allred; and friends too numerous to count. She is preceded in death by both her parents and step-father, Clyde Clindell; brother, Avery Hall and his wife Alice; grandson, Sean Christopher Brinton; niece, Starr Blair; and dear friend, Connie Trousel. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, prior to interment, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221. Special thanks to Diane Barlow, Hannah Pledger and Shirley Miller for their loving care that allowed Vivian to remain in her home and live and die with the dignity she desired. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road., Kanab, Utah 84741 or the American Lung Association.
