St. George, UT - Wayne George Heaton, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 in St. George, UT. Wayne was born August 19, 1940 in Kanab, Utah to Clifford and Annie McAllister Heaton. He was raised and educated in Southern Utah, then moved to California where he met and married Marci Lynne Butler Heaton on May 22nd, 1971. They were married in Los Angeles, CA and were later sealed on December 09, 1978 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served an honorable LDS Mission in Japan in 1959. He served in a number of Church callings throughout his life and enjoyed every one of them. Marci preceded Wayne in death on March 25th, 2003, and Wayne's life was changed forever. He missed her very much and never quite recovered from her tragic death. Wayne was known for his everlasting sense of humor and compassion for those in need. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved playing football and baseball. His family remembers very well the many adventures they took in which it took hours to find the way back to civilization. He will be missed. Surviving family include: his children Dave Dawn, Traci Heaton, Teryl (Dan) Marden, Kristi (Gary) Zohner, Bevan (Amy) Heaton, his grandchildren Preston, McKenzie, Jessica, Kaytlin, Brock, Jaden, and Clara, and his brothers and sisters, Anita (Dean-deceased) Jensen, Alta Kay (Ken) Broadhead, Steve (Judy) Heaton, Keralee (Ross) Oblad, R. Brent (Donna) Heaton and Charlie (Jamie) Heaton. He was preceded in death by his wife Marci Heaton, his parents Clifford and Annie Heaton, his brother and sister-in-law Wendel (Patsy) Heaton, and his brother-in-law Dean Jensen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS 19th Ward Chapel, 550 East 700 South, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be Wednesday, August 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, prior to services.
