Provo, Utah - Wayne B Nuttall passed away peacefully the morning of May 13, 2014, after a short illness. He was 92 and in the presence of his beloved family. Wayne was born in Springville, Utah on September 10, 1921 to James A and Leona Bunnell Nuttall. He was the third of eight children. He lived a wonderful boyhood in the central Utah communities of Huntington and Ephraim. He relished education and graduated from Snow College, Utah State University, and ultimately from the University of Utah with a Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Wayne married Maurine Anderson in 1940, had two children, and later divorced. He married Fontella Porter in 1950. They raised 5 children in St.George, Utah. Wayne lived a productive and adventurous life. He served in the US Army at the conclusion of WWII; worked in metallurgy in Montana, Utah, Peru, and Phoenix; in St. George he built and managed the O.M. Porter bread distribution business; was extremely active in civic organizations including the Lion's Club, St. George City Council, & the Washington County Water Conservancy Board; he believed in hard work and retired at the age of 77 from the Metz Baking Company. He is survived by his children: Barry (Nancy) Amundsen, Lake Villa, IL; Sue Ellen Hughes, Folsom, CA; Rebecca White, Sandy, UT; Laurie (Tom) Harvey, South Jordan, UT; Amy (Aaron) Black, Provo, UT; Lee (Dorothy) Nuttall, Rescue, CA; and Chuck Nuttall, Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by brothers, David (Jean) Nuttall & Ray (Anne) Nuttall. Wayne's posterity includes 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Fontella Porter Nuttall (1924-2000). Wayne moved to Provo, Utah in 2007 and spent his final years living in the home of his daughter Amy and her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., both at the Mortuary.
