Santa Clara, Utah
– Whitney "Whit" Reldon Jones, 80, our loving dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on June 3, 2018, due to a well-lived life mixed with Alzheimer's towards the end. He was born on April 17, 1938, Easter Sunday, in La Verkin, Utah, to Whitney Jones and Ella Duncan Jones. Whit married Katherine "Kitty" Pearl Walters on February 16, 1957 in Henderson, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.
He is survived by his children: Darlene (Kevin) Leany, St. George; Penny (Randy) Willard, Santa Clara; Ronald "Ron" (Jill) Jones, Hurricane; Joni (Scott) Ballard, South Jordan; Jandi Gubler, Santa Clara; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister Clara (Cody) Wilkins, Washington City; numerous family members and close friends. Preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth and his beloved wife, Kitty.
Whit was devoted to his wife Kitty and family. They enjoyed taking the family camping, and doing various outdoor activities.
He taught math, mechanics and diesel mechanics as a school teacher and safely piloted his truck hauling various items for most of his life.
He would often take family members with him on long hauls. He spent time working on machines in coal mines in Hiawatha (near Price, Utah) and oil pipes in Alaska. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking scenic drives, watching western movies, reading western novels and spending time with his family. He had a litany of fun phrases he would use to entertain his family that he will be remembered by: glad you got to see me; oink, oink; what a hero; imagine that; Clampetts; peanut; Irma; the world's tiniest violin; to name just a few. He opened his house to many and gave to those in need. He was handy and could fix just about anything and loved to visit with good friends and loved ones. He will be dearly missed!
