Obituary

St. George, UT - Wilden Hume Tweedie, 89 years, passed away April 19, 2010. He was born May 19, 1920 in Hurricane, Utah to David Hume and Flora Beryl Tweedie. He and Metta Wood were married in the St. George LDS Temple on October 30, 1940. Wilden grew up in Hurricane and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1938, and graduated from Dixie College with an Associates of Arts Degree in June 1940, and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He also completed all course requirements and thesis research for a Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Psychology at the School of Education at the same university. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 29, 1945 to November 1, 1945. He and Metta were called to serve in the Alaska, Anchorage LDS Mission from July 1980 to December 1981, and both were called as Ordinance Workers in the St. George LDS Temple in March 1983, where they served for nearly 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Metta; children: Jeffrey, Shannon, Rosemary, and April; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren (and three on the way!); and siblings: Barbara Polson, Florine Morris, Charliene Reed, James Armand Tweedie, and Mary Helen Parsons. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Red Cliffs LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 1155 North 1400 West, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday, April 23rd from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
