Willard "Kurt"
Cummings, Jr.
September 2, 1930 – May 25, 2018
After graduation from Stockton High School, in 1948, he joined the Air Force and served as a photographer for the rest of his 4-year enlistment in Japan, during the Korean War .
Kurt graduated from University of the Pacific in 1958, where he met his future wife, Edna Jean Tolboe, a widow with four children. He later received his Master's Degree in General Education Administration from Sacramento State in 1961.
He married Jean, "the love of his life", August 10, 1958 and raised a family of five children, having two of their own, one daughter passing in infancy. They were married for 52 years.
Kurt taught for many years in the Lincoln Unified School District and after retiring as an administrator moved to Palm Desert, CA and then St. George, UT.
He was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed two service missions, travel, photography, working with youth, and many opportunities for service including: President of the Lincoln Unified Teacher's Assn, President of the Arthritis Foundation in Palm Desert, and Volunteer at Bloomington Elementary School. His favorites were family activities, reunions, family history, and he loved his nation and our flag.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean, and daughters: Lisa and Cindy. He is survived by his loving and devoted children: Harold Rand Tolboe (Patrice), of Modesto, CA, Richard Brad Tolboe (Gail) of St. George, UT, Christopher August Tolboe (Karen) of St. George, UT, and Timothy Kurt Cummings (Laura) of Lodi, CA; stepbrother, Ron Barr of Eastsound, WA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday, prior to services, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Tonaquint Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, he has asked that donations be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund, or the American Red Cross.
