Hurricane, Utah - William Gene "Bill" Burns, 83, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at his home in Hurricane, Utah with his children at his side. He was born Billie Gene Burns, son of G. Harley and Mary R. Black Burns on December 27, 1931 in Beltona, Alabama. As a young child he moved with his mother to Carbondale, Illinois and later to Chicago where he graduated from high school. In 1951, he moved to Southern California. He lived in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, where he worked primarily in the construction industry. In 2003, he moved to Hurricane and has lived there since. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Caroline; a son, Walter Ward; and a granddaughter, Stacie Burns. He is survived by his daughters: Sandy McKie of Prosser, Washington, Cheri (Joe) Flynn of New Braunfels, Texas and Tammy (Jerry) Thomas of North Las Vegas, Nevada; his sons: Gary (Linda) Burns of Simi Valley, California, Bobby (Martha) Burns of Chatsworth, California, Billy (Carol) Burns and Ronny (Diane) Burns of Bend, Oregon; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
