Obituary

St. George, Utah - William "Bill" Clair Green, 64, returned home in honor to our Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Bill was beloved and surrounded in love by his family as he valiantly completed his mission here on earth.

Bill was born in Ogden, Utah on March 30, 1955 to William Henry Green and Bonnie Jeanne Fowler Green. He was the oldest of six children. In his early years, he worked hard and helped to support and care for his family. He dearly loved his parents and siblings: Janet, Kathleen, Brian, Amy, and Emily. Bill had a special bond with his little brother Brian, who was born with many physical challenges, but had a bright mind and a gentle soul that Bill cherished.

Bill attended Ben Lomond High School and later Weber State University, where he excelled in his schoolwork. He had a sharp mind and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that continued throughout his life. Bill was always surrounded by his extensive library of books of which he read and studied daily.

Bill was called to serve in the Fresno/San Jose California mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1975-1977. He delighted in his role as a missionary and taught many people the Gospel as he diligently labored in the service of our Lord. He also served as a Zone Leader in his mission and touched the lives of many as he taught the Word of God and shared the love and message of our Savior Jesus Christ.

While serving in his mission, Bill briefly met his future wife Debra Walker, who was also a serving missionary for the church. When they returned home from their missions Bill and Debra fell in love and were sealed together for all time and eternity in the Holy Temple of the Lord in Ogden, Utah on December 8, 1978. They were married for almost 41 years and shared a deep love and dedication to one another that became the foundation for their lives together and created a home and atmosphere of happiness for their family. They had six children: Jennifer, Stephanie, MaryAnn, Rebecca, Billy, and Racheal.

Bill was a kind, gentle, and loving Father to his children. He dearly loved his family and taught them well. He leaves behind a strong legacy of faith and love with his family that will continue throughout the generations. He sacrificed much in his life in the responsibility of care for his family and was a tower of strength and leadership that was the cornerstone of his family.

Bill was an entrepreneur and innovator throughout his life. In the mid-1970s along with his father, Bill co-established the family business, Green Disposal. From very humble beginnings and through years of diligent work he built a business that became respected in the community. He was a man of integrity and was always fair and honest in his dealings with customers and employees. Bill eventually took control of the business so his Dad could retire. He was always planning and continuously thinking of the future. When Bill relocated Green Disposal and his family's home to Marriott/Slaterville in 1984, he constructed offices and buildings and continued to expand the growing business. He had a sharp mind and inherent business sense and managed several mergers and acquisitions of the business over the years and also created several spin-off companies including Evergreen Recycling and Green and Company.

One of Bill's favorite quotes was written by poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night."

Bill is survived by his wife, Debbie; children: Jennifer Green (Roy, UT), Stephanie Brown (Nate), Medford, OR, MaryAnn Flink (Matt), Syracuse, UT, Becky Done (Thomas), Ogden, UT), Billy Green (Savanna), Coconut Creek, FL; sisters: Janet Higgs (Larry), Amy Gladwell (Jon), Emily Hansen (Justin) and brother-in-law, Paul Tuveson (Kathleen) all of Ogden, Utah. Bill is also survived by the grandchildren he so loved: Kael Gabriel Brown, Michael Hans Flink, Jeremy Zion Brown, Megan Debra Flink, Madison Faith Done, Bill Leavitt Green, Melanie Elizabeth Flink, and Thomas Alexander Done.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Bill; mother, Bonnie; brother, Brian; sister, Kathleen; and daughter, Racheal.
