Obituary

St. George, Utah - William "Bill" Vernon passed away October 5, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 28, 1944 in Oneida, Kentucky to Roy and Dorothy Vernon. He married Margaret Anne Linford on June 9, 1962 in Manchester, Kentucky.

Bill was a longtime resident of St. George. He was a bricklayer by trade and worked on many homes and buildings in St. George. He was an active member of the St. George Lions Club for many years and considered each of them his brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Anne; children: Tom (Wendy) Vernon, Tami McCloughan, and Tracy Williams all of St. George; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and sister, Patty (Bobby) Henson of Frankfort, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and grandson, Tyler Grover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Childrens Justice Center or P.A.W.S.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 1072 East 900 South, St. George, Utah. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
